Understanding Vye Settings

Vye offers settings that allow you to customize how the app behaves and how it interacts with your subscribers. In this article, we will explain the different settings available in Vye to help you optimize your experience.

Email Templates

The Email Templates setting allows you to select which email templates Vye will use when sending notifications to your subscribers. You can choose from pre-designed Vye templates or create your own custom templates using the email template editor.

  • Product Email Template: This template is used when sending notifications about products that match subscriber interests based on product tags and search keywords.
  • Collection Email Template: This template is used when sending notifications about updates to collections that subscribers are following.

You can create custom email templates using the drag-and-drop email editor, giving you full control over the design and layout of your notifications.

Email Delays

  • Aggregate Delay: The Aggregate Delay setting determines how long Vye waits before sending an email notification when a match occurs (e.g., when a subscriber's interest matches a new or updated product). During this waiting period, Vye combines any subsequent matches into a single email. The default value for this delay is set to 10 minutes, giving enough time for any ongoing updates to complete before an email alert is sent. This delay ensures that emails are not sent prematurely while changes are still being made.
  • Anti-Spam Delay: The Anti-Spam Delay setting helps prevent your subscribers from receiving too many emails in a short period of time. If there are multiple matches for a subscriber — such as when several products meet their preferences — Vye will introduce a delay between consecutive email notifications. This delay ensures that your subscribers are not overwhelmed with too many emails too quickly. By spacing out the emails, this setting reduces the risk of subscribers unsubscribing due to excessive notifications or having their emails marked as spam by email clients. It's an essential feature to maintain a positive user experience and ensure that your emails are delivered effectively. The default value is 30 hours.

Email Subject

The Email Subject setting allows you to customize the subject line that appears in your email notifications. By default, this is set to "New Product Update", but you can change it to anything that fits your brand and messaging style. A clear and engaging subject line can help improve email open rates.

Reply-To Email

The Reply-To Email setting lets you specify an email address that will receive replies when subscribers respond to your notification emails. If you don't set a reply-to address, your store's primary email will be used by default. Setting a dedicated reply-to address helps you manage customer responses more effectively and ensures replies go to the right team or inbox.

Email Sender Domain

Email Sender Domain allows you to send emails from your own domain instead of the default Vye sender address. This feature is available on the Professional plan or higher and helps improve email deliverability and brand recognition.

To use this feature, you'll need to add and verify your domain by setting up DNS records. Once verified, you can configure the sender email address and name that will appear in your subscribers' inboxes. For detailed step-by-step instructions on setting up a custom sender domain, please refer to the Email Sender Domain Guide.

Double Opt-In

If enabled, the Double Opt-In setting requires subscribers to confirm their email address before they start receiving email alerts. This helps ensure that subscribers genuinely want to receive notifications from you and helps protect against invalid email sign-ups.

Notification Type

By default, Vye sends notifications to subscribers about both newly created products and updates to existing products. Newly created products refer specifically to products that are added through the "Add Product" button on the Shopify product page — these are brand new listings in your store. Updates to existing products, on the other hand, occur whenever any property of an existing product is changed, such as price adjustments, stock quantity changes, or updates to product descriptions and images. If you prefer to limit notifications to only new product additions, you can enable the option to send alerts only for newly created products, excluding updates to existing products.

Notification Interval

Vye gives you the flexibility to determine how often your subscribers receive email notifications. When creating a form, you can include a notification interval field, which allows subscribers to choose their preferred frequency for updates. If you don't include this option, the default value set here will be used. The available options are:

  • Immediately: An email notification will be sent as soon as a match is found.
  • Daily: Subscribers will receive at most one email per 24-hour period.
  • Weekly: Subscribers will receive at most one email per week.
  • Monthly: Subscribers will receive at most one email per month.

Note: Keep in mind that aggregate and anti-spam delays will always apply and may result in additional delays, regardless of the selected notification interval.

Exclude Tags

The Exclude Tags setting allows you to prevent products with specific tags from triggering email notifications. Products that have any of the selected tags will be automatically excluded from all email alerts, regardless of other matching criteria. This is useful for filtering out products you don't want to promote, such as discontinued items, internal test products, or seasonal items that are out of stock.

Subscriber Data Handling

The Subscriber Data Handling setting determines how Vye manages subscriber preferences when the same email address subscribes multiple times with different preferences.

  • Combined Mode: All preferences from multiple subscriptions are merged into a single subscriber profile.
  • Match Profiles Mode: Each subscription is kept as its own separate profile for matching purposes. This allows more granular control over notifications.

Preferences Management Form

The Preferences Management Form setting allows you to specify a form ID where subscribers can manage their notification preferences. You can include a link to this form in your email templates, making it easy for subscribers to update their interests, change notification frequency, or modify other preferences.

Deactivate Email Notifications

The Deactivate Email Notifications setting provides a quick way to temporarily pause all email sending from Vye. When this option is enabled, Vye will stop sending notification emails to your subscribers until you disable it again. This is useful if you need to pause notifications during inventory updates, store maintenance, or other periods when you don't want emails going out.

Vye Emails

Vye can send you important updates regarding your progress. These notifications include weekly updates, alerts when your monthly quota or maximum number of subscribers is reached, and milestone notifications such as when you hit 100 subscribers.
